Lake Mombeong

Lake Monibeong is a shallow freshwater lake known for trout fishing. Backed by coastal vegetation and dunes, the flat grassed area is home to some of Autralias’s rare orchids. Perfect for a picnic or some light hiking.

Livingstone Island

Take the Livingstone Island Nature Walk out through the salt marshes to discover a range of local wildlife. This boardwalk trail not only offers beautiful views of Lake Oxbow but is perfect for birdwatching as it it home to a range of native waterbirds.

Nobles Rocks

Looking for full access to the beach? This 2km stretch of beach is accessible by 4WD at the southern end of the rocks. Take a walk along the south-west facing beach to view the calcarenite bluffs.Like the rest of the bay, Nobles Rocks receives high energy waves, averaging 1.5m. There is a 400 metre wide triple bar surf zone but take note of the strong permanent rips at each end.

 

The Gorge Walk

The Gorge Walk is the perfect way to explore the Nelson surrounds and enjoy the breathtaking views of the Glenelg River, meandering limestone cliffs and local wildflowers. The track is 10 kilometres long, commencing at the car park near the North Nelson Track and River Road intersection. The walk is medium difficulty but well worth it.

The Inkpot

This natural depression is filled with freshwater up to 10 metres deep. It is almost black I appearance and is just past the Moleside Picnic Area. Access is via Winnap Road.
